Having done my degree and diploma in architecture at The Bartlett School, I was fortunate enough to win a Rome Scholarship in Architecture (1983-83) at The British School in Rome. On my return, I worked at Casson and Conder Partnership in London, working on the new parliamentary building in Whitehall.
In 1988, Bloomsbury published my book "An Architect in Italy" ; this is an account in sketchbook form of my year in Rome.
From 1993-96, I was a part-time teacher on the Foundation Year at The Prince of Wales School of Architecture.
