I was born in Kirkwall, Orkney in 1956 and studied at Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen and at the Royal College of Art, London, specialising there in illustration. Since graduating in 1983, I have balanced terms of teaching at numerous art schools with work on personal projects.
A passion for printmaking, with all the creative possibilities inherent within the media, has made the print-room a perfect environment with which to engage with my students. Here, ideas and project work can be developed through processes that have been carefully modified by years of personal experience and experimentation to establish what I would term "the factor factory". A collective experience that has proved invaluable to students at any stage and at any age.
