Statement

 My paintings are made from on site drawings, usually of the urban landscape. They are abstracted into a graphic representation of the original.

In my sculpture I like to work from organic forms and translate these into highly finished wood carvings. My portrait sculptures are modelled in clay and cast in bronze.

Biography

 Daphne studied at The West of England College of Art and was awarded a first class honours in Sculpture. Her work was selected for the Young Contemporaries exhibition in London. After qualifying with an art education degree from Bristol University and a period of teaching, she studied at the Academy of Fine Art in Perugia, Italy.

In 1981 she was elected a fellow of the Art Workers Guild and in 1989 she was invited to hold a mjor retrospective show of her work at the Palazzo del Priori in Perugia Italy. Commissions have been completed for Romsey Abbey,  St Johns Neath Abbey, a trophy for the World Windsurfers Association and many  works for public and commercial organisations. Her work is also held in private collections both in this country and abroad.

From her studio in West London she continues to work on paintings and sculptures which are mainly in carved hardwoods.
