Statement

My work is a means of exploring the visual environment with a particular medium which lends itself to the constantly changing colour and light by day and, equally, the varied colours coming from lighted buildings and water reflections after dark.

Working outside with pastels, oils and watercolours enables me to capture on flat surface all the subtle nuances of form and colour in the visual panorama quickly; and thereby achieve an affect involving total atmosphere.  Representational painting is an intensely satisfying emotional experience for me personally.  I am able to encapsulate not only the physical presence of the landscape in front of me but also the spiritual presence and personality, which emanates from that landscape.

I regularly accept private commissions, in all mediums, of people's homes and places of interest.
