Statement

I make endangered species, birds, primates, dogs, whimsical creatures and abstract pieces. Larger works are started from a wire skeleton, sometimes finished in wire, or built up with chicken wire, papier mache, plaster or mosaic. I like using found wire and objects, and am particularly interested in work that will help in some small way to save the planet. I love working with wire, showing it who's boss. I still find modelling magical -  to make a form appear in space where there was nothing. I like the organic nature of my process - the times when a found object or the first placement of wire in a base will suggest its subject.

My work is in many private collections in Australia, the UK and Ireland.

Biography

2010 to 2012Working for Seamless Relocation, helping old people move house.
2001 to 2009Working with volunteers on community projects at the Masbro Centre;and organizing the Artspace.
1999 to 2001Developing services for Age Concern Hammersmith.
1993 to 1999Art tutor for Adult Education in Hammersmith and Westminster and Age Concern, and teaching children Art and Craft for L'Ecole Brook Green.

 I was born in Melbourne and lived in London since arriving in the UK until my recent move to Somerset in December 2017.  I am now in Frome, an exceptionally creative town!

My work is sculptural and inspired by the natural world. Until recently my main materials were wire, plaster, papier mache and recycled materials. Recently I've started using mosaic as well - broken crockery and porcelain and glass tesserae.
