Statement

The ideas and images in my current work are drawn from the East Anglian countryside where I am based.  Images created from composite layered drawings are screenprinted onto handmade leaf paper.

Working in tune with the seasons, I gather leaves and fibres and transform them using traditional papermaking techniques which I have developed to produce delicate sheets of leaf paper without the aid of added adhesives.  Each sheet of leaf paper is crafted with an image in mind and the challenge is to create a balance between leaf paper and image, man and the environment.

Biography

Janet French gained a BA (Hons) Art & Design – Fine Art at Colchester School of Art & Design in 2006. She is a member of The Arborealists, Society of Botanical Artists - Fellow, Artworks, Colchester Art Society, and The Printmakers Council.
