Statement

 Mary Stephens’ work is derived from observations made in the surrounding landscape of the South East of England and she produces paintings, prints and photographs inspired by her meanderings through nature. The nuances discovered within the subject are seen as metaphor for human experience.

 Recent work includes a series of screen prints depicting various trees at certain times of the year. Ever changing, these steadfast companions to our existence remind us of the beauty and transience of life. Mary is a member of Art Space, Portsmouth and teaches printmaking at The Omega Centre.
