This semi-abstract, expressive, landscape painting, was inspired by by frequent walks on the South West Coast Path and in particular, the red soil of South Devon. I am endlessly intrigued by the abstract nature of a small area of grassland and the many textures and colours.

Statement

 

I am a full-time, degree educated (Fine art) practicing artist with a studio on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, with many sales in the UK, USA, China and Australia


I live and work in a beautiful part of the country, and take inspiration from that. I choose to interpret this, not necessarily by painting the topographical, but instead finding the ordinary to describe the extraordinary. I like to explore these, they are often far from being simple and uninspiring. I find there is a natural poeticism, look closely and you will find a complex tapestry of colour, texture, light and shade.
