Introduction

Steph graduated in 1996 having trained at Loughborough College of Art and Design. She now works from her London-based studio. Her jewellery is characterised by clean geometric lines and by the frequent use of wood. The ‘Split Cube’ collection was designed around the idea of the division of a simple cube. This has been dissected to create a variety of new shapes and relationships between the oxidised silver and ebony. The blackness of the ebony and oxidised silver is broken only by the gold leaf applied to the ebony giving these otherwise contemporary forms an almost antique feel. Other work includes the orient-inspired bamboo collection, the honeycomb collection with its repeating hexagonal forms and walnut elements, and the paisley collection which further develops the use of gold leaf and ebony for more rustic glamour.
