Art in the Eastside III
CriteriaThis is an exciting high profile public art programme run by Creative Exchange and is our showcase event of the year. Art in the Eastside III will form one of the largest outdoor exhibitions to be delivered in Belfast. It will also be the main visual arts highlight as part of the inaugural East Belfast Arts festival. Collectively it will create an outdoor gallery of images in the heart of East Belfast and will bring art directly to the people in the east of the city. The outdoor exhibition will also be accessed to those travelling the main arterial routes in and out of the city centre. The theme relates to East Belfast and artists will be asked to explore the various cultures that currently have an impact on the area e.g. people, political, social, diversity etc. There will be 26 billboard images, across East Belfast during September 2012. A minimum of 11 of the Billboards will be from selected artists from open submission. A specialised panel will be formed to select the winning artists. The work proposed for Art In the Eastside III must have site–specific relevance. Images are required to reflect an essence of the east of the city, which can be adopted by any of the five expressive themes - People; culture; politics; social; diversity.
