Rings

Rings

This striking exhibition includes twenty established jewellers and their ring designs. ‘Rings’ will explore the technical and aesthetic qualities in this jewellery item and bring together a diverse collection for our viewers to admire. The designers have been chosen to be incorporated into several areas; wedding and engagement, contemporary, quirky and classic.

In the wedding and engagement section our selection of designers all create rings which are deemed perfect for that special day. Alex Kreglewski and Jill Rednap utilise silver, gold and semi-precious stones in their work in a range of different styles. Robert Feather uses different coloured 18ct golds, diamonds and precious stones to create his simple and understated designs and Natalie Jane Harris creates simple geometric forms with unusual stones.

The essence of our contemporary section is wonderfully displayed by the work of Tanja Ufer, Stephanie Johnson, Pruden & Smith, Daphne Krinos, Mackay and Pearson and Allison Evans. Each designer shows a unique style of work, which incorporates exciting elements of texture, form and a fantastic use of the materials they have employed in the making of their rings.

The next area of our ‘Rings’ exhibition covers work of a quirky nature; work which is creative, stimulating and distinctive in design. Lindsey Mann uses anodised aluminium and kinetic elements like spinning propellers and swinging pendulums in her work, Katie Clarke utilises feathers in an assortment of fantastic colours and styles and Angela Fung uses stainless steel and semi-precious stones to create her innovative kinetic rings. Marianne Anderson’s ornamental collection of oxidised silver rings combines elements of layering with intricate motifs and patterns. Finally, Dawn Emms resin work is bold and brash and full of life, ideal to accompany the other designers in this category.

The classic/everyday area of the exhibition is incorporating several designers that have exhibited with us for many years. Diana Porter and Anthony Blakeney are showcasing rings which are simple in design but beautifully created with a universal appeal. Joël Degan’s rings made from stainless steel, titanium and 18ct gold are also very simple in design but strikingly appealing as are the rings by Gerlinde Huth. Alan Vallis uses silver, gold and a variety of semi-precious stones that creates a highly admirable collection of designs.
