I grew up in Devon where rolling hills , wild moors and dramatic seascapes played a large and influential part in my childhood. Not surprisingly this landscape is still very important to me, but for the past 30 years I have lived and worked in London, a much loved urban existence and so both places seep into my Painting. I want my work to convey a bold atmosphere and mood which stems from the many years of doing just that in my Set Design work for Television.
Both my Painting and Photography display a continuing need to explore the fine line between pure abstraction and figurative recognition, between chance and control, discovering and cajoling the work through the different media, employing colour, surface and texture.
