Working within the concepts of objecthood and object as celebrity, whilst exploring the identity, materiality and creation of a new narrative for an object. Referencing observation, surveillance, ‘through the keyhole’ and the ‘peeping tom’.

'If the reflective can be described as a medium, it is one in which the viewer becomes the author, because without the viewer it is impossible to discern the something, or even the nothing, that is there' (Josiah McElheny)

Introduction

My practice focuses on the site-specific, with narratives of past and present, fact and fiction; visualising the invisible, revealing the presence of absence through reflection and creating the visual illusion of a parallel world.

Statement

Juliet's practice focuses on the site-specific with narratives of past and present, fact and fiction. Explorations into the presence of absence through the real and the imagined, are interwoven in creations of visual illusion and parallel worlds.

Liminal states existing between the inner and outer, the actual and perceived, are explored and developed by her, into self-reflexive and sensory experiences. Her architectural and spacial displacements create immersive and experiential spaces, in which the viewer choreographs their own engagement with the work.

By interplaying the real with the reflected she reveals hidden, intangible dimensions reflecting ethereal and otherworldly realms.
