Statement

              Lenore uses her talents to create, not emulate. She cites Surrealism, Symbolism and Op Art as influences on her work. Her paintings focus on bringing visions of alternate spaces and objects into the world which we currently occupy—ultimately changing it by virtue of her having been there. Her paintings appear to be objects or spaces themselves, continuing beyond their canvases and taking on behaviors of their own; for example, the bulging and expanding Glow or twisting and bouncing paths of Ribbon and Ribbon’s Cousin. The concept of artist as creator, the excitement of being able to share the inner workings of her mind with viewers by simply manipulating paint—these are the driving forces behind Lenore’s work.

How many different ideas can come from one person? Lenore plans to find out—her recent work Cut From The Same Cloth alone contains 39 original designs. Each painted surface is a new world, a new idea, and a window into the artist’s psyche. While each painting is unique, her works show a cohesive sense of design that are in keeping with society’s current focus on modern, sleek abstraction. They employ use of bold, bright color, smooth lines and juxtaposition of rigid, graphic arts with the fluidity and texture of paint. All of Lenore’s work encourages viewers to take a second look, to get lost, to contemplate—just what is reality? Lenore plans to never stop creating, and to continue using her talents to connect with others and beautify the world, one canvas at a time.
