Introduction

Statement

Much of my work is based upon memory, impressions and chance occurrences. I want to draw out the beauty in the arbitrary; taking inspiration from heavily scarred walls, marks created by peeling paint to imprinting grass, leaves, wood and soil directly onto my work surface. 

I try not to be too precious or prescriptive about the materials I use as this tends to hinder my thinking. I enjoy being lost in the experience and like a child at play try to discover and create through experimentation. 

This physical process of drawing and mark making is an integral part of my work and I aim to approach each canvas as I would a sketchbook; hopefully creating something intuitive, fluid and spontaneous.
