"Resentful"

Black Chunky Crank Clay vessel distorted to portray a very dark time. Enhanced with glass beads, which show that even in our darkest times, there can be glimmers of hope -even if we can't see them.

Introduction

Statement

Emma Desborough - Hartley’s contemporary ceramics offer an insight into human emotions, portraying our happiest and bleakest times and a combination of both. The use of colour and texture alongside strong design and innovative forms is paramount. Suspending the pieces adds a tension we sometimes find within ourselves.

Creating something complex yet beautiful.

The images I use in my work are predominantly representational, varying from being entirely analytical, to those incorporating a figurative approach, with the figure used as an instrument for story telling. Such images are combined with mixed media to create emphatic images.
