Introduction

Statement

Over some years I became a self taught artist,  originally working with water colours and doing illustration work and I started printmaking 20 years.ago,

I enjoy working mainly with etchings using both line and aquatints, the technique of etching must appeal to my engineers soul. My etching practices and techniques were mainly acquired from summer courses at Gainsborough’s House, a particular influence has been Jane Stobart in the use of aquatints. More recently I have been developing the use of aluminium plate for Etching using Copper sulphate, as an acid solution- it is much more environmentally friendly than most other acids.

I am particularly interested in the black and white image  

My work is usually figurative, often based on literary themes;  

No matter what the subject may be, the image should incorporate interest and technical fluency. It should be more than just something to look at for a few seconds. For me, the soul of the subject is something to aim for.
