Janis Ridley was born in Co. Durham where she lived at the border to Northumbria with its vast expanse of landscape. She studied sculpture at Newcastle upon Tyne School of Art and completed A BA Hons in Fine Art at Exeter College of Art in 1976.
She became a member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors in 1998.
She taught part -time at Newcastle upon Tyne school of Art University of Exeter and adult master classes.
Since 1996 she has focused on sculpture, making public and private commissions and exhibiting in galleries London Art Fairs and sculpture parks.
She has been involved in Art in Action Oxford for the past two years.
Her work is in many private collections in the UK, France, Australia Hong Kong and the United States.
She has received two Arts Council Awards
