Introduction

Statement

These paintings are inspired by my passions for gardens and gardening.In particular, my garden in the Caribbean.  

I am drawn to the harmony, order and chaos which exists in nature.

Through surface and colour, I want to create the enveloping sensory experience of garden and beach, landscape and plant life.

From memory, using chance and amendment, I layer and re-arrange the painting until it reaches a fusion of imagination, knowledge and primarily, feeling and experience of that place 

Biography

1949  Born London, UK

1966  Foundation course, St. Alban's Art College

1967-68 Barnet college of Art, Environmental Design course

1969-71 Birmingham College of Art, School of Theatre Design

1971-75  Lived in New York City and the British Virgin Islands

1976  Moved to Toronto, Canada.  Student at Toronto Dance Theatre

1978- 81 Student at Ontario College of Art and Design

!981-92 Worked in advertising and design in New York and Toronto

1993-94 Fine Arts Degree course at Ontario College of Art

1995  Returned to painting. Lived in Florence, Italy. Studied art and Architecture. Returned to UK

Currently spends several winter months on the island of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands.  The rest of the year in London.
