Introduction

Statement

Gavin uses elements of Rococco, Classicism and 19th Century 
realism to elevate trashy subject matter into a grand style. 
He hopes, in the process, not to forget the humanity of the
people portrayed - in this selection - Chanelle Hayes, Kerry
Katona and Charlie Uchea(attacked outside the Embassy Club, 
London, November 2007). His work touches on common themes in
contemporary culture such as ambition, celebrity and voyeurism
but also reaches for higher ground.
