Introduction

Statement

Buddhist practice has inspired much of my work, and Tibetan Buddhist mantras and offering scarves can be found embedded in my Tourmaline series, either within the wax or in the monoprints and collages of the ancient Vietnamese temple that I visited in 2004 and more recently in 2011.  Some of the works take many months to be resolved, the long pauses in their creation being important moments of reflection for me, although the best results often happen unexpectedly and always out of a deep and meaningful experience.

When possible I draw 'en plein air' especially the woodland around Dunwich in Suffolk, which is an endless source of pleasure and inspiration.   I have recently returned from the beautiful  island of Mull and I look forward to showing you my Mull series later on in the year.  The challenge is to communicate something of the wonder and beauty of life through the infinite potential of the creative process itself.
