Corfield has been painting since he was inspired at an early age by his mother's watercolours of the flowers she found whilst in the foothills of the Himalayas. He started by painting the flowers and birds that surrounded him in rural Buckinghamshire and Dorset where he went to school. He has been painting ever since, predominantly in watercolours.“coming out“ as an artist finding himself in the mystifying art world. Working in Devon and being deeply involved inrural life, he is enlivened by the natural forms and rawness of nature. Despite the demands of farming, Mark has managed to attend various art courses, at present doing an OCA course and is starting out in his exhibiting career, with exhibits in galleries in Honiton and private commissions. His recent work uses vivid colours trying to create a dream-like, somnolent, twilight atmosphere, where thoughts merge with images. Scenes and shapes which appear within the fluidity of the painting to draw the eye into different small worlds each time you look.“I imagine my work hanging in a bathroom or bedroom, where the mind is in a relaxed state, calming and mind opening. “ www.markcorfield.isendyouthis.com
