Having graduated from the London College of Printing in 1982 Suzanne Baker followed a successful career as Art Director for British Vogue, the Tatler and Conran Design Group, From 1994 she has painted full-time - first in Spain and now in London. Since 1995 she has shown her work in a number of solo and mixed exhibitions.
"Corot once said 'I have only a small flute but I try to play it in tune'. He really was modest and so is Suzanne Baker. As I was looking at a group of her recent paintings I noticed that I was becoming more relaxed and quiet. They showed me the sort of places that I like, but the 'views' were filtered and sifted through Suzanne's temperament so that I was given the double pleasure of being in a nice place with a nice person.
Suzanne began by studying graphic design but soon found that she really wanted to paint. She received help from various classes but she discovered the essence of her pictorial self on her own. I think this is just as well since her essence lay within." FRANCIS HOYLAND SEPTEMBER 2008
