Statement

I make wire sculptures and wire drawings.  Also papier mache and mixed media sculptures in 3D and in relief.

I am inspired by and passionate about the natural world, but sad that as the dominant species we are not more compassionate about our fellow creatures.

I am interested in capturing the essential character and humour inherent in individuals from a species. Currently birds fascinate me, and primates. I enjoy making  large abstract forms, and quirky playful sculptures.

I am interested in reclaiming materials, for the sake of the earth and because of a puritanical frugality.  So I am fortunate with friends who donate unwanted wires etc, and I do a bit of skip foraging.  I live in a working boatyard and come across some inspiring rusty old metal bits of boats.
