Statement

Gunenc works in a variety of media including two and three-dimensional forms.  Her works on canvas are concerned with time, texture and layering, revealing strata-like images of her memories, those distant histories, hewn and brought forth from the quarries of her notions from the past.

These long tales then resurface as colours, shark fin shadows of greys and reds swimming and darting across the canvas.  Experiences caught fleck-like, in the corner of her eye or memories from the back of her mind. All is fragmented, not broken but dispersed so that the viewer is unable to see the image as a whole and must cast around to create an image from the sum of its parts.
