Maureen's current work is constructed using mostly discarded materials gathered from streets and building sites. She creates dramatic and striking effects building layers of thick impasto on the canvas mixing acrylic and medium with sand string and ripped tarpaulin. The compositions are abstractions but a strong representation of landscape and the raw elements of nature are immediately apparent to the viewer. Her use of texture gives an almost sculptural image creating the impression of a section torn from the landscape itself.
